5 ways to find time for social media
I will give you 5 ways to find time for social media in your coaching practice.
1. Create a Routine
For example 3 times per day and connect it to another thing that you are already doing every day.
Good moments are just before breakfast, before lunch and before diner. Spend each moment about 10-20 minutes on the social networking sites. Share a post. Connect with a new person.
2. Block a day in the week
For many coaches Fridays are slower than the other days of the week. You can block this Friday to work on your business instead of in your business.
Work on your marketing. Write a post. Shoot a video.
Of course when your slower day is Monday that would be good day for you. I am not thinking about weekends. Marketing is too important for your business.
3. Priority for today
It is like a to do list only shorter. Just the priorities for today. The tasks that needs to be done by the end of the day.
Add a social media task to this priority list.
4. During breaks
You can’t focus on your business all day. Or have back to back sessions with clients all dat. During the break, between meetings or between focus blocks, check a channel and see who you can help. Answer a question.
After 50 minutes of focus time add a 10 minute break. After two to three client sessions, a 20 minute break.
5. Email updates
Various services will check the social media channels, like Twitter, for you. You can enter keywords, names (your name, the names of your clients) and every day you will receive an update of the tweets with this topic or when the name is mentioned.
You can comment or reply to the updates that you receive in the email. It is part of your daily email routine.
Bonus: Virtual Assistants
When you are too busy to do it all yourself you can hire assistance. You need to do the basics your self. Social Media is all about personal connections. It is about people to people. We want to connect with you.
There are also tasks that you can outsource. Like sharing your latest article on the channels where your target client is. Or editing the video and upload it to Youtube. Or find good images that you can add to your updates.
One more: focus
This one is not in the video:
Don’t try to be everywhere at the same time. Focus on the 3 most important networks for your target client. Don’t spread yourself thin by trying to be on Google+, Youtube, Pinterest, Instagram, Vine, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Xing….
Ask your target client where she actively hangs out. Do a survey. Search for statitiscs on your target audience in the search engines. Find out on what social networking sites they read stories, where they share stories and ask questions.
That’s where you need to focus on. Don’t follow the hype. Focus.
